The good news is in the Carlinville camp is that the Cavaliers will have back four starters from last season's club.
The bad news is that they managed to go just 9-19 on the season, losing to Gillespie in the first round of the Greenville 2A Regional.
Head coach Alan Cooper will turn to those four seniors as they head into 2016-17.
Adam Walton, a 6-foot-2 senior, leads the way along with classmates 6-foot-4 forward Brady Jamieson, 5-foot-10 guard Jake Hannig and 5-foot-9 guard Hayden Thompson.
The first player off the bench last season for Coach Cooper was Konnor Emmons, a 6-foot forward and this mentor looks for him to step into the starting role.
The Cavaliers also have four juniors looking to step up from the JV ranks.
Joe Fraser, a 5-foot-11 guard, will get some minutes as will 5-foot-11 Garrett Campbell, 5-foot-9 Donovan King and 5-foot-11 Josh Hinzman.
“Although we do not have the go to big man we have a solid group that when all playing together can be tough to guard since there is no one man,” said Coach Cooper. “I expect for this group to finally see the success they have been wanting for two years.”
