Head coach Todd Cantrill saw his team struggle some outside of the conference last season but the Comets burned bright in the league, going 7-2 which was good enough for second in the conference.

Greenville owned a 13-16 overall mark, losing to Hillsboro at the 2A Hillsboro Regional.

Coach Cantrill has three starters back and some returning letterwinners to face a tough tournament right off the bat at the Carlyle Kaskaskian.

The three starters that return all bring back good numbers from last winter.

Lucas Carlson, a 6-foot-4 forward, netted 7.4 points a night while grabbing 4.4 rebounds on average.

Christian Moss, a 5-foot-11 senior, and 5-foot-11 junior Kaleb Ephron, each averaged almost eight points a game.

Moss grabbed almost three rebounds a game while Ephron dished out almost four assists a contest.

Five-foot-ten junior Drew Frey, 6-foot-3 junior Hunter Gray, 5-foot-7 senior Brandon Hamel, 5-foot-10 junior Brock Nelson and 6-foot-2 junior Chad Stearns will all be part of the Comets' cause in 2017-18.
“We had a good summer and we are looking forward to the season,” said Coach Cantrill.

OUTLOOK – This coach always seems to have good kids to work with and they will be in the race to the top in the SCC along with Piasa Southwestern and Hillsboro. Outside of the league the opposition is going to be tough. But that is part of the plan to get better for a postseason run.
