The Lawrenceville Indians managed to hang in with a lot of good teams last season and they ended up with an even .500 record at 14-14 after dropping out of the 2A Mt. Carmel Regional at the hands of county rival Red Hill.

The Indians lost three kids to graduation in the spring, Zeus Marsh, RJ Nelms, and point guard Conner O'Dell.

Head coach Randy Bishop is approaching 700 career wins and he has some kids back that should make that happen early in the year.

It helps to have a fourth year starter in the lineup and Lawrenceville has that.

Six-foot-three senior forward Noah Weger is back for his final prep season.

Coach Bishop also has an experienced point guard returning as 6-foot-1 senior Jorgan Jones will be in the lineup.

Helping out in the backcourt is 5-foot-9 senior guard Skyler Tewell along with 5-foot-10 senior guard Logan Williams.

Upfront will be 6-foot-3 senior forward Blayne Winningham.

The rest of the players this mentor mentioned are guards.

Six-foot senior guard Jarrett Winkles, 6-foot-1 junior guard Ethan Kelly. 6-foot sophomore guard Brenyn Winningham and 6-foot junior guard Damon Zollars will all have minutes waiting on them.

“Our team could be very competitive in LIC. We have several seniors and younger players with experience after injuries to two of our starters (Marsh, Wegers). This enabled the younger players to get valuable playing time. The team has worked hard in the off-season and have improved a lot offensively. Several players have grown and gotten stronger which should help us compete with the bigger teams in our conference and regional,” said Coach Bishop.

OUTLOOK – This club looks to be a bit small in the frontcourt but they will definitely have to step things up to compete with the top tier teams in this league. Plus 700 wins is nothing to sneeze at and it is a tribute to a lot of hard work by this coach and the players he has helped develop. Look for the Indians to be better this season and this coach will know a lot more about his team a week from now.
