Five starters from the Vienna team went away via graduation in the spring and head coach Cory Waters will have to move people up to take their places when 2019-20 begins.

Vienna sent away Gabe Snell, Kyle VanCleve, Justin Casey, Jeremy Pietrowski, and Zane Hutchison.

All of which started at some point last season.

The Eagles have a nest full of players who have waited in the wings for this opportunity.

Two are seniors; 5-foot-8 senior Matthew Naese and 6-foot-1 senior Richie Oliver.

There there are seven sophomores who will be ready.

Six-foot-three Thomas Craig is part of the junior class along with 5-foot-8 junior Lane Ross.

Five-foot-nine junior Adrian Stout will also have classmates 5-foot-10 junior Bailey Dahmer and 6-foot-5 junior Eli Wright.

Mason Kerley, a 6-foot-1 junior and 6-foot-1 junior Clay Fraser round out the seven.

Five sophomores were listed by Coach Waters with 6-foot-6 Skylar Blankenship and 5-foot-9 Dawson Hill.

Six-foot-one sophomore Jonathon Green, 5-foot-9 sophomore Sean Acree and 5-foot-10 sophomore Jake Norton will all have chances.

“Very unselfish group that plays well together and plays hard. These guys have put a lot of work in this summer and I'm looking forward to this season,” said Coach Waters. “We will find out more about our depth, strengths and weaknesses during our Thanksgiving tournament. We have several good teams in it this year. We don't return very many varsity minutes from last season so that first week we should see a lot of growth.”

OUTLOOK – Not unlike Trico, this program is a small 2A situation where they more often than not struggle with postseason assignments. But they have room for improvement and some apparent depth. Coach Waters will know more a week from now after five games at their own event.
