WATERLOO GIBAULT
BY JACK BULLOCK
The Gibault Hawks are in what Coach Dennis Reuter calls “a major rebuild.”

He may be very correct in that assessment as the Hawks graduated nearly everyone from last season's club that went 22-8 and lost to Alton Marquette in the regional championship game.

This mentor must replace some good ones from a year ago, including Trevor Davis, a 6-foot-3 senior forward, and 6-foot-5 senior forward Collin Kessler

Garrett Rueter, a 5-foot-11 senior, was also on that successful club and all three of these players graduated in the spring.

Coach Rueter has one player back to build around; 5-foot-10 junior Karson Huels who tossed in eight points a contest as a sophomore.

Six-foot-two senior Josh Besserman and 6-foot-1 junior John Adams will likely start the season in the line up.

Logan Doerr, a 5-foot-11 junior, and 5-foot-10 junior Dylan Altadonna, will be part of the early season games.

Five-foot-nine sophomore guard Gavin Kohnz will also be in the running for minutes.

We have only one player who played any significant minutes last season,” said Coach Rueter, who is 703-362 in 37-years at Gibault. “Our junior varsity only won three games last year. We will be in a major rebuild from the start.”

OUTLOOK – The Hawks might be down for a while but it won't be long before they are back to winning. They have some good athletes but not a lot of experience. They will build towards the future and this tough schedule will toughen things up in a hurry.
