They
held a couple of early leads after a Clark short jumper and
Plott scoring on a drive in the lane.
But
the Centurions took off on their run with Perez scoring seven
of his points in the first quarter.
Dunning
scored twice inside and Johnson added a rebound basket to close
the quarter at 17-7.
Perez
scored seven more points in the second quarter, nailing down
his second 3-pointer and converting consecutive steals and transition
scores to close the run and push the lead to 29-7 with 2:18
left in the half
Egyptian
finally broke the scoring streak by Century with a conventional
three-point play by William Lessar.
However
Century closed out the half with Crain hitting a 3-pointer and
Johnson scoring on a drive to make it 34-12 at the break.
Ten
consecutive points from Century to begin the second half closed
the book on any sort of Egyptian comeback.
Both
Perez and Johnson scored early third quarter points as the lead
ballooned to 44-12.
Crain
hit his second 3-pointer and Perez canned a 3-pointer from near
the top of the circle to close the 25-point quarter as the continuous
mercy rule clock kicked in to begin the fourth quarter at 59-26.
Egyptian
committed 11 of their 12 turnovers in the first three quarters,
with four of them in the third quarter leading to Centurion
points.
Century
hit 29-of-61 shots from the field, 7-of-23 from the arc in the
victory and they held a 38-28 rebounding edge.
The
Pharaohs were 11-of-50 from the floor, 3-of-21 from long distance.
This
was the fourth meeting of the season between the two clubs and
Century has won all four contests.
Century
will play Agape Christian on Thursday night in an SEC league
game.
The
Centurions lost a non-conference game to the Knights 69-65 in
overtime back on December 1.
Egyptian
hosts Zeigler-Royalton on Tuesday and Shawnee on Thursday in
its next two contests.
“We
like to be disruptive. We want to get into the passing lanes
and be able to reach without fouling,” said Coach Parr.
“The guys came out at halftime and knew that they needed
to come out strong. They brought a lot of energy.”
