ABV RANKINGS - JANUARY 10, 2011

The coming week will tell a lot about how the postseason will shape up. The Murphysboro Red Devils face their toughest stretch with a pair of road games against ranked teams. Trico will also take the road against a real threat later in the week. As ABV has done in the past - the weekly rankings is based on "Who's Hot, and Who's Not." The asterisk * denotes teams ABV has seen in person. Enjoy!
Salem Supersectional Area "Top Ten" Class 1A Rankings
1. TRICO (15-0) * 3-0
Survived a scare at home to rival Sesser-Valier. Winning games when playing poorly is a sign of a good program. The Pioneers tackle SIRR teams Sparta and Du Quoin this week.
2. WOODLAWN (12-3) * 2-1
Lost a heart-breaker to Flora on Saturday at the Centralia Shootout. Will regroup for a MTC run this week with games against North Clay and Odin on the schedule.
3. MERIDIAN (14-3) * DNP
Bobcats got a week off before hosting annual MLK Shootout this coming Saturday. Coach Mandrell's team will be a heavy favorite to win the SEC Tournament.
4. DIETERICH (8-3) 2-0
The Maroons “Move” up this ladder with key NTC wins over Neoga and Altamont last week. Coach VanSyoc's club will host Teutopolis on Tuesday night.
5. NEOGA (10-5) 1-1
Not the kind of follow up week for the Indians that Coach Hanson was hoping for with a loss at Dieterich. Recovered with a win @ Casey-Westfield.
6. OKAWVILLE (8-7) * 0-2
The lumps the Rockets will take this season will once again add up to a big plus in February. Coach Kraus' beefed up schedule always pays off in the end.
7. GOREVILLE (9-4) * 1-0
Picked up an non-conference win over Z-R this past week. Will host Sesser-Valier in a battle of ABV Top Ten teams on Tuesday.
8. WAYNE CITY (12-1) * 2-1
Undermanned Indians lost at 2A Mount Carmel on Saturday night. Plenty of time to regroup for a potential Midland Trail Conference title run.
9. SESSER-VALIER (10-3) * 1-1
Led the top one here nearly every step before losing Saturday night. The Red Devils will have a say in the postseason. Playing at Goreville on Tuesday night.
10. RED HILL (6-6)
Another program where you can forget the record. Coach Havill with have his club ready by February. Hung tough with a good Olney team last weekend.

West Frankfort Supersectional Area "Top Ten" Class 2A Rankings

The Cougars picked up a couple of good wins last week over Columbia and Highland. Coach Eagleson's team will play at Lebanon and at home against Red Bud this week.

Two big wins over Du Quoin and Okawville move the Hornets up the list. Coach Weathers' team will get a shot at Murphysboro this Tuesday.
