BENTON 34, BREESE CENTRAL 32
For the second consecutive season the Cougars lost a sectional championship game on the road to a host team.

The Benton Rangers, behind 12-points from 6-7 junior Docker Tedeschi, including 8-of-8 from the foul line, advanced to the super-sectional for the first time since 2003 with the victory over top-ranked Breese Central.

Coach Ron Winemiller's club jumped out to an early 14-4 lead and then hit 11-of-12 free throws in the fourth quarter to hold off Coach Jeremy Shubert's 32-3 club.

Isaac Billington added 10-points for the Rangers, who are now 31-3 and will head to SIU Arena on Monday for the Carbondale 2A Super-sectional.

They will face Teutopolis, a 61-55 overtime winner of St. Joseph-Ogden at the Shelbyville Sectional.

Central was led by senior Zane Schrage with 12-points and senior Mason Shubert scored six.

Last season the Cougars lost at Pinckneyville in the sectional championship game at Pinckneyville.

TEUTOPOLIS 61, ST. JOSEPH-OGDEN 55 (OT)
For the 16th time in program history the Wooden Shoes have captured a sectional championship, this time at the Shelbyville Sectional with a win over the Spartans in overtime.

Coach Chet Reeder and his club have now won 3-of-4 sectional titles since he took over in 2018-19.

Five-ten senior guard Mitch Koester scored 14-points for the Shoes while senior Tyler Pruemer added 13.

Seniors Zac Niebrugge (11), Joey Niebrugge (nine) and Garrett Gaddis (eight) also scored for Teutopolis.

St. Joseph-Ogden had their nine-game winning streak snapped as the season closed at 27-7.

Senior Luke Landrus scored 13-points for the Spartans.

Six-four senior Tanner Siems scored 12 while junior Coy Taylor and senior Logan Smith added 11-each.

Playing a vicious schedule, T-Town is now 24-10.

Monday night's contest against Benton at the Carbondale Super-sectional will mark the 17th game for the Wooden Shoes against teams that have won at least 20-games.

Three of the opponents (Benton 31-3, Mt. Zion 34-1, Centralia 32-2) won 30-plus games with Centralia and Mt. Zion set to play on Monday at the Springfield 3A Super-sectional.

Brecken Thomas scored on a three-point play with :24 left and the Bullets held on for the win to advance to the Springfield Super-Sectional on Monday.

Thomas, a senior point guard, ended up with 12-points while sophomore Garrett Timm netted 13 and Braden Sailing added 11.

Alton Marquette closed its campaign at 26-9 for Coach Cody Best.

The Explorers 6-3 senior Braden Kline scored 14-points and 6-4 senior Jaden Rochester ended up with 12.

Five-eleven senior guard Jaylen Cawthon added 10 in the loss.

Sean Williams, a 5-11 senior, ended up with eight-points.

The Explorers had a shot in the final seconds but a 3-pointer from the left corner fell short as the Bullets celebrated their first sectional title since finishing fourth in the IHSA Class A tournament in 1991.

Williamsville (25-9) will face Macomb, a 54-38 winner over Rockridge Friday night, at the Springfield Super on Monday.

For the first time in program history, the Silver Stallions will play in a super-sectional as they defeated the Purple Riders on Friday night at Effingham St. Anthony.

CORL (20-15) will face Mounds Meridian at the 1A Charleston Super-sectional on Monday night.

Senior Parker scored 15-points for the Silver Stallions, eight-points in the second half.

Senior Omari King added 13-points and Jayden Bazile scored 11.

Arcola and head coach Greg Gisinger closed their season at 28-7.

Six-three senior Jackson Miller scored 16-points in the loss and teammate 6-3 junior Braden Phillips, added 14.
