The Rangers won their second regional title in as many years with a win over the Indians Friday night at home.

Coach Ron Winemiller's team broke away from DQ with a 16-4 third quarter to lead 41-24.

Mason Childers led the way with 15-points as Benton improved to 19-10 on the season.

Jared Johnston and Trey Garrett put in 14 and 12 for the Rangers in the triumph. Johnston naile four 3-pointers.

Du Quoin closed out its season at 13-17 with the loss.

Cale Diggins and Brandon Williams scored 12 and 11 for the Tribe.

The Tigers won its first regional title since 2008 with the narrow win over the Wolves in front of a sold out crowd at the Mule Barn.

Coach Rob Flanagan's crew improved to 26-4 on the season while ending the season of Flora at 27-4..

Brooke Pampe topped the Tigers with 19-points while Michael Fehrenbacher added 13.

Olney failed to put the Wolves away in the fourth quarter until the end because of missed free throws, eight total in the final quarter.

However Flora couldn't quite get over the hump as their season ends as does the careers of all-time Flora leading scorer Paul Knapp and 1,000-point scorer Nick Painter.

Knapp end his prep run with 18-points while Painter tallied 10.

Olney will tackle Pinckneyville on Tuesday night at the Class 2A Sectional at Eldorado.

For the fourth time in succession, the Cougars took care of their crosstown rivals with a strong defensive effort as Coach Eagleson's team improved to 28-1 on the season.

Senior guard Nick Grapperhaus paced the state's top-ranked squad and ABV preseason choice to win the Carbondale 2A Supersectional with 15-points.

Central's Austin Rickhoff added 14-points, nine of which came in the fourth quarter.

Brandon Book added 10-points, with a pair of 3-pointers in the first quarter as the Cougars got going early.

Mater Dei's Cory Arentsen closed out his prep career with 12-points, as only four Knights scored.

Mater Dei closed the book on its season at 21-8.

Coach Steve Medford's Explorers punched their ticket to their third consecutive sectional on Friday night in a low-scoring win over SCC West Division rival Roxana.

D'Tae McMurray led Marquette with eight points.

With Roxana being deliberate in the first half, Marquette led 12-8 in the third quarter.

After getting a defensive stop, Coach Medford pulled it out and made the Shells chase them.

The Explorers exploited their quickness advantage and made 7-of-10 free throws in the fourth quarter to nail down the win and improve to 28-2 on the season.The Shells decided to slow the pace down early after having lost to the Explorers three times during the regular season.

The strategy didn't work out for a win for Coach Mark Briggs' club as their season ended with the 12-point loss.

Only two players scored for Roxana (22-9).

Six-foot-nine junior center Hunter Reine scored 10-points while Matt Hartlett scored three points.

Senior Dathan Berning led the Vandals with 11-points with teammate Leyton Godoyo pitched in 10.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a 16-4 first quarter lead and never allowed the Patriots to get closer than nine points the rest of the way as Coach Randy Smithpeters' team advanced to its second consecutive sectional.

Tyler Smithpeters led the way with 25-points in the win, including 10-of-14 shots from the foul line.

Capel Henshaw added 16-points while Eli Taborn-Scott finished with nine.

Massac County saw its season end at the hands of Harrisburg for the second straight season in the regional title game.

Malcom Amos scored 14-points while Travis Beck and Dalton Mitchell added 12-apiece.

Harrisburg will face Benton on Wednesday night at the Class 2A Eldorado Sectional.

Coach Brad Tomhave got 15-points from 6-foot-5 junior Dalton Hoover and also 14 from sophomore guard Kennedy Kattelman in the win.

Pittsfield put the game on ice in the fourth quarter by converting 19-of-23 free throws.

Winchester West Central got 19-points from Corey Barnett in the loss.

The Cougars put a scare into Pittsfield in the final frame, outscoring the Saukees 25-10 to close the final margin.

The Wooden Shoes grabbed yet another regional title, this time at the hands of their long-time rival St. Anthony.

Coach Andy Fehrenbacher saw his team improve to 26-2 with the triumph.

Mark Niebrugge led the charge with 17-points while Kyle Pruemer muscled in for 14-points.

Niebrugge hit three 3-pointers in the first half as the Shoes opened up a 24-18 lead at the break.

Teutopolis outscored the Bulldogs 17-10 to put the game out of reach.

St. Anthony finished the season 19-11 with Reed Willenborg topping the charts with 15-points.
