ABV RANKINGS - 02-05-13

ABV Class 1A Rankings
1. WOODLAWN (20-2)
Coach Witzel's Cards added two more wins last week over Sesser-Valier and Cisne. Woodlawn will get a tough test with Flora on Saturday night at home.
2. MADISON (13-9)
Picked up a huge win over Gibault Catholic and are the top seed in the Carrollton Regional. Too bad they have to travel 52 miles one way to play there.
3. WATERLOO GIBAULT (20-5)
The Hawks topped Troy Triad (3A) and Okawville this past week. Coach Rueter team it the top seed at the Valmeyer Regional where another game with Okawville looms.
4. OKAWVILLE (19-6)
If these Rockets can somehow win a tough regional over New Athens and Gibault, Coach Jon Kraus will have his team hosting a sectional that feeds north to Jacksonville.
5. NOKOMIS (18-8)
The Redskins are the scary team on this list with a schedule as strong as anyone in the state in 1A. They got the top spot at the St. Elmo Regional. Winners of 10-straight.
6. GALLATIN COUNTY (19-3)
They came ever so close to shocking Nashville at the Nashville Shootout. Drone continues to impress but the Hawks are more than a one-man show. A real sectional title threat.
7. GOREVILLE (19-4)
The Blackcats forged a pair of huge BDC West wins last weekend with triumphs over Chester and Trico. Coach Tripp's group is poised for another league championship.
8. MERIDIAN (19-6)
The Bobcats got ambushed in their annual trip to the Metro-East by Lovejoy. Coach Mandrell's crew shouldn't be overlooked when it comes to the postseason.
9. OBLONG (16-10)
Coach Brent Harper has his team primed for a big postseason effort. The won-loss mark includes all ten losses to larger schools.
10. NEW ATHENS (16-6)
Picking up two more wins, including topping Lebanon on the road, has the Yellow Jackets in first place in the Kaskaskia Division. They are part of a loaded Valmeyer Regional.

ABV Class 2A Rankings
1. HARRISBURG (23-1)

2. TEUTOPOLIS (21-3)

The Maroons responded after a disappointing LIC Tournament finish with win over Newton and a loss to Newburgh (IN.) Castle, one of Indiana's good teams.
4. CARLYLE (18-7)

6. CASEY-WESTFIELD (16-6)
After a poor first half, the Warriors held their own with the top one on this list last Saturday. They have the makings of a tough out in the 2A Newton Regional.
7. NEWTON (20-3)
The Eagles took it on the chin on the road last week to a pair of tough hombres (Effingham and Robinson). Coach Mammoser's team will host a tough group in the postseason.
8. SPARTA (18-7)
The Bulldogs bested Du Quoin and Steeleville last weekend and can reach 20-wins for the first time since 1986-87 with two more triumphs.
9. BREESE CENTRAL (17-8)
After a loss to Carlyle, the Cougars rebounded with wins over Columbia and Mater Dei. This coach and this program shouldn't be counted out when the postseason begins.
10. MOUNT CARMEL (11-11)
The Golden Aces' record is a bit deceiving, Coach Tyler Buss' club is 6-3 against Illinois teams. They have some young guns that will only get better with time.
