ABV RANKINGS - JANUARY 11, 2010

Salem Supersectional Area "Top Ten" Class 1A Rankings
1. MOUNDS MERIDIAN (16-1)
Those Bobcats beat a good Caruthersville (MO.) team on the road Saturday. Coach Mandrell's club hosts St. Louis (MO.) Cleveland next Saturday. Then SEC Tourney.
2. WALTONVILLE (11-2)
Didn't show up in the first half vs. Wesclin after 10-day layoff. Okawville game will also be a tough road game on Tuesday night followed by roadie @ Herrin. Brutal stretch!
3. SESSER-VALIER (11-2)
Without Matyi on Saturday - Trico pulls the upset. Tough Goreville comes calling Tuesday. Coach Basso has a monsoon of games @ Benton Invitational Tournament looming.
4. OKAWVILLE (7-7)
Rockets tough schedule should pay off late. Date with Waltonville on Tuesday. The young kids in the backcourt are starting to grow up. Definitely a post-season team to watch.
5. WOODLAWN (7-5)
Big MTC week with home games against North Clay and Odin followed by a trip to always-tough Lebanon. Coach Witzel will learn a lot about his club in the next seven days.
6. STEWARDSON-STRASBURG (10-2)
Losing Widdersheim for the season is a huge blow to the Comets post-season chances. First real National Trail test comes at home versus St. Anthony on January 22.

7. TRICO (9-4)
The Pioneers picked up the biggest win of the week @ Sesser-Valier. The Trico toboggan heads down a steeper slope in the next two weeks. Play host to Du Quoin on Tuesday.

8. CRAB ORCHARD (15-0)

Toughest challenge comes against Carrier Mills this Tuesday @ home followed by a trip to Cairo on Friday night. This will be the Trojans' toughest stretch.
9. NORTH CLAY (8-1)
These Cardinals are quietly in the Mid-South Conference hunt. Coach Wattles' squad has just a loss to 2A Newton on the resume. They get a crack @ Woodlawn on Tuesday night.
10. CARRIER MILLS (10-3)
Coach Motsinger's Wildcats can take a step toward another GEC title with a road win @ unbeaten Crab Orchard on Tuesday night.

West Frankfort Supersectional Area "Top Ten" Class 2A Rankings
1. BREESE CENTRAL (13-1)
The Cougars put a Class 3A notch on the belt with a tough win over Mt. Vernon @ Centralia Shootout. Central has the intangibles for a Peoria trip.
2. MURPHYSBORO (14-1)
The Devils tasted defeat for the first time last week courtesy of rival Carbondale. Look for Coach Murphy and Co. to regroup for run at Nashville and Harrisburg this week.
3. PINCKNEYVILLE (10-3)
Panthers have a week off to prepare for the Benton Invitational Tournament. Coach Waggoner shouldn’t have too much trouble motivating the defending BIT champs.
4. COLUMBIA (11-4)
Picked up an important Cahokia Mississippi win @ Carlyle. The Eagles have emerged as the top threat to Breese Central in the conference. Road win @ Waterloo this Tuesday.
5. METRO-EAST LUTHERAN (13-4)
The Knights dropped a heartbreaker to Orion @ the Unity Shootout on Saturday after posting a victory over Du Quoin. Coach Ambuehl has Staunton this week then the Litchfield Invite.
6. DU QUOIN (10-3)
The Tribe lack consistency but are on the upside now after win over Nashville. Two big tests this week @ Anna-Jonesboro and Trico and then a trip to the Sparta Invitational Tournament.
7. NASHVILLE (12-4)
The Hornets dropped a tough road game to Du Quoin on Friday and then bested Washington County rival Okawville. Tough road game @ Murphysboro and home for Sparta this week.
8. HARRISBURG (11-4)
Major SIRR Ohio Division contest @ Murphysboro with title implications and then a week at the Carmi Invitational. The Bulldogs will continue to launch the 3-point bombs.
9. HERRIN (10-6)
Wow, what a season they have had in Herrin. Ups, downs, suspensions, etc. At least David Mallow has been the real deal. Can the Tigers survive all the problems?
10. SPARTA (11-4)
The Bulldogs picked up a signature win over Red Bud to go with some other good early wins. Dartanus White is a very good guard. On the road @ Nashville this Friday.
