Long time rivals Pharaohs and Bobcats squared off on Saturday night with Meridian winning their fifth consecutive regional title, holding off a rally from Egyptian to claim the crown in a contest that was delayed by weather and a incident on Wednesday night after the Cairo-Meridian game.

The Bobcats' head coach Jeff Mandrell got the best of his brother, Egyptian mentor Matt Mandrell, to advance to the Hardin County 1A Regional on Tuesday night where they will face old rival Goreville.

Joshua Jones and Michael Schoffner each scored 18-points and David Davis scored 16-points as the Bobcats improved to 24-6 on the season.

The Pharaohs nearly pulled the upset as their high scoring tandem of Justin Prewitt and Devantae Price came up big.

Prewitt scored 30-points to lead all scorers while Price finished with 23.

The problem for the Pharaohs was that only two other players (eight points total) scored for Egyptian as they ended there season at 18-9.

Jones scored 16 of his points in the second half as he helped hold off the Egyptian rally.

Trailing 32-22 at halftime, the Pharaohs climbed back into the contest behind Prewitt and Price.

But the rally fell short as Meridian hit 6-of-8 free throws in the fourth quarter.
