SHAWNEE 57, EGYPTIAN 53
In the first major upset in southern Illinois regionals the Redskins took out the second-seeded Pharaohs on Tuesday night.

Coach Cory Barker got 16-points each from Clay Murphy and Tyler Davis to send Egyptian home early.

Tyler Spurlock added 10-points in the win in which Shawnee was 'money' from the foul line.

The Redskins hit 22-of-28 from the line and improved to 13-14 on the season.

Coach Matt Mandrell's club bows out with a 18-9 final mark.

Brad Buckley topped Egyptian in scoring with 14 while Matt Petermichael and Shelton Pender threw in 10-points each.

The Redskins - the seventh seed in the Meridian Regional - will play Cairo on Thursday night in the semifinals.

The Pilots - who have struggled this season winning games - opened the Class 1A Regional at Meridian with a big win over the Demons.

Arthur Williams - a 6-foot-7 junior forward - popped in a team-best 23-points as the Pilots (Road Warriors) improved to 9-13 on the season with the victory.

Cairo was a woeful 8-of-23 from the foul line but connected on 30 field goals in the contest - all two-point shots as they advance to meet Shawnee on Thursday.

Dongola (6-20) saw its season with Chayse Swank hitting for 28-points while Allen Sadler closed his high school career with 14.

CRAB ORCHARD 74, JOPPA 64
Crab Orchard moved on to the semifinals with a win over Joppa.

Coach Jon Brown’s club improved to 16-11 on the season behind 17-points each from 6-foot-4 freshman Ben Kissing and Adam Perry.

AJ Hutchins added 15-points in the victory.

The Trojans outscored Joppa 29-13 in the second quarter to build a lead.

Joppa paraded the Trojans to the foul line and Crab Orchard made 26-of-43 attempts.

The Rangers saw their season end at 5-21 as Travis Beck scored 16-points in a losing effort. Ethan Wilke added 13 for Joppa.

Coach Todd Tripp’s team rolled into the semifinals with a shootout win over the Pirates.

Brandon Potocki netted 25-points in the Blackcats win (11-16) which moved them into the semifinals against Crab Orchard Wednesday night.
Kaleb Kinder chipped home 16 and Lee Sopczak added 11 in the triumph.

Pope County (8-19) saw its season end despite 38-points from 5-foot-10 senior Gusten Wallace. Playing in his final prep basketball game – Wallace hit four 3-pointers and was 8-of-12 from the foul line.

Brett Butler added 14-points for Pope County.

The Spartans survived to live another day with an eight-point win over the Bearcats.

Joseph Lewis scored 24-points to lead the Spartans to their 18th win of the season while teammate Skyler Witges added 13.

Galatia (11-15) received 20-points from Ryan Augustyniak in defeat while sophomore guard Denton Reed added 17.

Waltonville moved to the semifinals on the strength of 21-of-25 from the foul line to hold off Galatia.

NCOE 65, THOMPSONVILLE 38
Six-foot-six senior forward Zach Halfacre was a full” pain in the side to the Tigers as he scored 19-points as the Fighting Cardinals advanced to a Thursday night meeting with Waltonville.

Jordan Weiss added 15-points for Coach Doug Miller’s club that improved to 20-8 on the season.

Nicholas Mitchell scored 14 for NCOE and Levi Hart added six first half points in the win.

Thompsonville (10-18) closed the campaign with just one double-figure scorer – Jacob Nielson who put in 13.

ANNA-JONESBORO CLASS 2A REGIONAL
CARTERVILLE 49, VIENNA 37
The Lions haven’t had much to roar about this season but they managed to pick up a regional win with a victory over Vienna.

Coach Scott Burzynski’s club was led by Ben Drust with 17-points.

Anthony Lenzini added 10-points in the low scoring affair for Carterville (7-22).

Vienna (10-18) bowed out of the state tournament with just one player scoring double-digits.

Jacob Langston scored all ten of his points in the second half.

LITCHFIELD CLASS 2A REGIONAL
GREENVILLE 61, LITCHFIELD 36
Greenville improved its record to 23-5 with a win over the host Panthers on Tuesday night.

Four Comets sparked the scoreboard for double-figures in the win with Ryan Mullholland and Rutger Neece scoring 17-points each.

Derek Atchison added 12-points while Kyle Dannaman chipped in 10.

Greenville broke away from Litchfield with an 18-4 fourth quarter to move into the title game on Friday night.

The Panthers (12-16) were topped by Jacob Wyatt with 15-points.

CARLYLE CLASS 2A REGIONAL
NASHVILLE 69, CARLYLE 36
The top-seeded Hornets moved to the title game set for Friday with a convincing win over the host Indians.

Michael Wilson led four Nashville players in double-figures with 14.

Zach Wreath added 13-points while Coach Darin Lee also had two players score 12-points – Ryan Ryterski and David Conner.

Carlyle (5-26) closed its season with Josh Rosol leading the Indians with 12-points.

PANA CLASS 2A REGIONAL
PANA 64, VANDALIA 44
These Panthers defended their lair with a 20-point win.

Coach Gary Bowker’s squad (16-10) outgunned the Vandals 18-6 in the third quarter to pull away for the win.

Frank Schmitz scored 22-points to lead the Panthers into the regional final against Greenville.

Drew Bell led Vandalia (16-10) with 13-points.

CUMBERLAND CLASS 1A REGIONAL
CUMBERLAND 78, MARTINSVILLE 33
The host Pirates moved into the semi’s and ended Martinsville’s season in the process.

Zach Bolin paced the Pirates with 21-points.

Martinsville closed its season at 7-20 with the loss despite 15-points from Jared Higginbotham.
