The Indians will play in the 2A Newton Sectional championship game on Friday night as they outlasted the Comets on Tuesday night.

Coach Randy Bishop's crew had to rally in the fourth quarter to even things before a 17-8 overtime session sent the Tribe back to a sectional title game for the first time since 2016.

Six-three junior Bryant Jenkins led all scorers with 34 points, including 10 in the overtime, as Lawrenceville improved to 26-8 on the season.

Junior Landon Sanders (17) and senior Leyton Ivers (12) also hit for double-figures in the victory as Lawrenceville is now two wins away from reaching the state finals for the first time since 1996 where they reached the Elite Eight in Class A.

The Indians connected on 15-of-19 free throws to go with 7-of-8 in the overtime.

Coach Todd Cantrill and his Comets closed their season at 21-12.

Greenville was led by three double-digit scorers.

Junior Kaleb Gardner scored 21 points for the Comets and senior Landon Moss added 17.

Sophomore Cale Ackerman added 14 in the loss as Greenville didn't get to the foul line as often as the winners, hitting just 6-of-9.

Lawrenceville will face the winner of the Teutopolis/Alton Marquette Wednesday night semifinal on Friday.

The Indians fell behind 22-10 in the first quarter but staged a rally to advance to their first ever sectional championship game with win on their home floor.

Coach John Niebrugge, who won a sectional title as a player in 1998, got 27 points from senior guard Mason Robinson, nine of which came in the fourth quarter, as the state-ranked club improved to 29-4 on the season.

Junior Dillan Elam (13) and senior Avery Jahraus (12) added points as Altamont trailed by seven heading into the fourth quarter and then outscored C-W 22-13 to advance.

Coach Tom Brannan's Warriors saw their campaign close at 19-11 as 6-1 senior guard Jackson Parcel scored a game-high 28 points in the loss.

Six-four sophomore Ryan Richards (10) and junior Connor Sullivan (nine) added points for Casey-Westfield.

The Indians will play the winner of Wednesday night's game between Tuscola and Effingham St. Anthony on Friday night.

For the first time since 2005 the Trojans will play in a sectional championship game as Coach Brad Beaty's club advanced past the hometown Hawks to Friday's title game.

Six-eight senior Hunter Danberry scored 17 points, including an important fourth quarter three-point play as the Trojans will now face the winner of the Wayne City/Mounds Meridian Wednesday night semifinal.

Senior guard Weston Hails added 12 points for Webber (23-11) and freshman Nathaniel Marlow added six points.

Hails nailed a pair of important 3-pointers in the third quarter.

Gallatin County saw it's season close at 15-15.

The Hawks and head coach Craig Utterbeck were paced by 6-7 senior Rylie Rushing with 15 points and sophomore Grant Jackson with 13.

The Trojans were down 21-16 at the half but rallied for the win.

The state-ranked Hawks advanced to the sectional final with the win over the Indians.

Coach Dennis Rueter and his program are looking for their first super-sectional appearance since 2016.

Six-one senior Kaden Augustine scored 25 points for the Hawks (28-7) while junior Gavin Kesler added 19.

Hudson Blank, a 6-1 junior, added 15.

Payson-Seymour (18-16) got 29 points from sophomore guard Blake Schwartz and 14 points from Bryan Dieker.

Junior guard Wyatt Neisen scored 12 for the Indians.

Gibault will face the winner of the Madison/Springfield Calvary Wednesday night clash on Friday night.
