Just like has been the case in two previous trips to the Red Hill 1A Sectional, the Woodlawn Cardinals have advanced to the championship game.

Coach Shane Witzel's team topped St. Elmo behind 21-points from AJ Webb and 12-points from Gabe Owens as the Cardinals improved to 25-5 on the season.

Christian Hollenkamp chipped in 11-points for Woodlawn, who is now a win away from their fourth consecutive supersectional appearance.

St. Elmo and head coach Greg Feezel closed their stellar campaign at 22-8.

Ben Sperry, one of seven seniors on the Eagles squad that played their last prep game, led St. Elmo with 14-points in the loss.

Jake Mansker added nine points while high scoring junior Conner Beasley was held to just eight points.

AT NORRIS CITY-OMAHA-ENFIELD
CRAB ORCHARD 53, SESSER-VALIER 50
The Trojans rallied for the biggest victory in the school's history behind 20-points from 6-foot-5 senior forward Ben Kissing and a trio of 3-pointers from Coty Wece in the victory, and a school record 30-2 mark.

Crab Orchard trailed 10-0 early and were down 18-8 at the end of the first quarter but rallied past the stunned Red Devils by hitting six trey's while S-V didn't connect on any shots from behind the arc.

Drew Johnson scored nine points for the Trojans and sophomore Josh Emery hit the biggest shot of his young career, a 3-pointer in the fourth quarter that helped give Crab Orchard a spot in Friday night's sectional final.

Sesser-Valier saw its season come to a close at 21-10 with Tim Witcher and Justin Kulich leading the scoring for Coach Chip Basso with 11-points each.

Editor's Note: This game was moved from Gallatin County High School due to a power outtage in the county caused by the severe storms that hit Southern Illinois early Wednesday morning. The Crab Orchard/Meridian title game will be back at Gallatin County High School.

The state's top-ranked team in 2A and ABV number one team advanced to the title game on Friday night behind 6-foot-6 senior forward Brandon Book, who topped all scorers with 21-points.

Book netted 19 of those markers in the first half as the 30-1 Cougars built a 27-17 halftime advantage.

Teammate Nick Grapperhaus scored 10-points, all in the second half, as Central held on for the win.

Four Marquette players scored eight points for Coach Steve Medford. But the Explorers couldn't get over the hump in the second half as their season came to a close at 28-3.

Senior Derrik Starrett was one of the Marquette players with eight points, as was Jake Coddington, D'tae McMurray and Mike Williams-Bey.
