Junior guard Kanon Webb hit two free throws with :07.0 remaining to lift the Blackcats to a win over Woodlawn in the finale at the 1A Norris City-Omaha-Enfield Sectional.

The Blackcats improved to 34-2 on the season with the victory.

Six-foot-five senior Trent Glidewell paced the Blackcats with 23 points while Webb and 5-foot-11 senior Cam Hines added 10 points each.

Hines, a transfer from Fairmont, West Virginia, became eligible March 1 and he scored 10 points in each of the Goreville wins this week at NCOE.

For Woodlawn 6-foot-1 senior Blake McKay his final prep game was special.

McKay torched the Blackcats with 34 points and he nearly sent the game into overtime but his drive to the basket and lay up rolled off the rim as time expired.

Junior guard Jackson Tiemann scored nine points for Coach Brian Gamber as the Cardinals ended their campaign at 31-4.

Woodlawn had handed Goreville one of its two loses back on February 1st at Woodlawn but the Blackcats won the sectional title and will now face Moweaqua Central A&M.

The Raiders bested Effingham St. Anthony Friday night, 57-43 to win the 1A Casey-Westfield Sectional title.

The two programs hooked up in 2018 at SIU Arena in the 1A Carbondale Supersectional, with Goreville winning 74-61.

MADISON 59, WINCHESTER WEST CENTRAL 52
The last time the Trojans made it to a supersectional, the program reached the 1A championship game back in 2013.

This season Coach Maurice Baker has his club making a return trip to the Jacksonville Bowl for the 1A Supersectional with a victory over the Cougars at Dupo Friday night.

Six-foot-three sophomore Deangelo Enlow paced the 25-10 Trojans with 19 points while 6-foot-1 senior Javonnie Moore added 17.

The Trojans outscored West Central 20-10 in the fourth quarter, with Moore nailing down 7-of-7 free throws in the final minutes.

Senior Jalen Moore added 11 points in the contest as the Trojans will now face Athens on Tuesday night.

The Warriors won the Lewistown 1A Sectional with a 75-59 win over Peoria Christian.

West Central saw its season close at 32-4 as head coach Ryan Sichting got 18 points from 6-foot senior Gabe Cox and 6-foot-2 sophomore Ryan Moore.

Six-foot-five senior Cole Howard battled foul trouble before eventually fouling out with just eight points.

Senior Drew Evans netted nine points for West Central.

The Knights are heading back to SIU Arena for the first time since 2015 after dispatching the Explorers on Friday night at Shelbyville.

In the low scoring contest, Mater Dei got balanced scoring from six different players.

Five-foot-eleven senior guard Zach Napovanice led Coach Ron Schadegg's squad with 11 points as he hit all four of his field goal and was 3-of-3 from the foul line.

Grant Goebel added eight points while 6-foot-6 junior Mitchell Haake added seven.

Seniors Jacob Schadegg and Caleb Zurliene added six points each.

Alton Marquette finished their season at 26-7 as the Explorers were led by senior Brent Terry with eight points and senior Jaxon Hendricks with six.

Mater Dei improved to 29-5 on the season and will face Murphysboro on Tuesday night at 8 pm at the 2A Carbondale SIU Supersectional.

Both Mater Dei and Murphysboro were 3A teams last season but dropped down to 2A for 2019-20 and also next season in the two-year enrollment classification cycle.

The Red Devils topped Nashville to advance to their first supersectional since getting second place in the 2011 2A state finals.

Coach Daryl Murphy's squad took care of business in dethroning last year's state runner up Hornets at the Hamilton County Sectional.

Three Red Devils scored in double-digits with JaQuan Jackson, a 5-foot-7 junior guard, pacing the club with 17 points.

Senior guard Dezmond Clark added 15 to the cause and 5-foot-7 sophomore Calvon Clemons added 11.

Seniors Jamaeirr Frazier and Jamarr McZeke added seven important points each for the squad.

Nashville, who was trying for back-to-back trips to Peoria, fell to 28-7 as their season came to a stop.

Coach Wayne Harre got 13 points from senior guard Carson Parker and 11 points from senior Terry Pelczynski and junior Jaxon Goforth in defeat.

Murphysboro, now 27-7, will face Mater Dei Tuesday night at 8 pm at SIU Arena.
