@ DUQUOIN TIP-OFF CLASSIC
DUQUOIN 58, CARTERVILLE 54 OT
The Indians got 21 points from Jaymon Alvis to top Carterville in overtime Wednesday night.

Jordan Camanella added 12 points for the Tribe (2-0) on the season and in the round robin tourney format.

Caterville (0-2) was led by Matt Rowald with 14 points while Ben Drust chipped in 13.

DuQuoin was a 'sharp-shooting' 18-for-21 from the free throw line, including 7-of-8 in the extra period.

In a game that saw neither team hold more than a one-point lead at the end of any quarter, the two teams battled to a tie in the final two quarters setting up the extra session.

In a strange twist, all 10 of the points scored in overtime (seven by DQ, three by Carterville) came from the free throw line.

Kalin Lowe led Cairo (2-0) with 17 points. Freshman Russell Mackins added 15 points; Anthony Jackson tossed down 14 and Gary Williams added 13.

The Pilots never batted an eye in jumping out to a 45-23 halftime advantage.

In a game where the score could have been much worse, the Pilots were just 9-of-22 from the free throw line while they sent the Red Devils to the charity stripe far too often (Venice was 18-of-34 from the line).
